Choose the Next Adventure

It’s a rainy Sunday afternoon – perfect for a cat nap, a good book or a good movie. Maybe even all three! I flip on the TV and discover one of my favorite actors Bill Murray starring in “Lost in Translation” (2003). The timing feels very serendipitous.

I’ve been in a very contemplative mood lately, trying to figure out what is next. Where am I going? A Los Angeles Times review of “Lost in Translation” captures it best: “Lost” understands without having to say it that people at widely different ages can be equally uncertain about who they’re supposed to be, equally impelled to question where they want to land when they grow up. (Kenneth Turan, Sept. 2003)

When I was five, I daydreamed of my wedding day and future life with a husband, kids and house with a white picket fence. I’m not sure when that dream was replaced with other dreams like traveling to Italy, Spain and Australia; writing a screenplay or book, and being financially independent so I could do “whatever I wanted.” My nephew and I like to scream at the top of our lungs, “When I grow-up, I can do whatever I want!!” If that’s true, then what I do I want to be next?
